In January 2025 Euclid Network released its latest report on the state of social enterprise in Europe, a biennial survey covering 31 countries. It finds that women hold a majority of positions at every organisational level in the social enterprises surveyed. More than 70% of the enterprises have a core mission centred on improving the lives of specific groups of people. A main way they pursue it is inclusive employment, and nearly half actively employ people with a migrant background or disabilities. These results fit the familiar picture of social enterprises as organisations that combine market activity with inclusion goals. Because the survey is repeated every two years, it also lets the sector track change rather than rely on one-off snapshots. For readers new to the field, it is a good starting point for seeing what European social enterprises look like in practice.
